Arriving at the foot of Borne, a look over the Allier towards Villefort, a magnificent Cevennes landscape that will take your breath away. You arrive in the country of the ”Faïsses” chestnut terraces, typically Cévenol and of the pélardon, the goat cheese of the Cévennes.

The most beautiful picturesque villages 82 km ascent 1100 m or 107 km ascent 1500 m

Two mythical passes. 85km ascent 1350m or 117km ascent 1850m.
We change scenery, the Cevennes and its deep valleys, winding roads to discover a preserved and sometimes rebellious nature. Two mythical passes on the menu, one to climb and which is deserved “Teste Rouge”, Montselgues, the Corniche du Vivarais, and savour the descent of the Meyrand pass at the foot of the Tanargue massif.
Shorter itinerary, after Montselgues two options by the Corniche du Vivarais or the Drobie valley to reach Joyeuse and Lablachère for a delicious tasting at the source of the Chatus grape.

The Drobie and Ardèche Valleys 85km ascent 1260m or 114km ascent 1650m or 122km ascent 1820m
Take the road to Lablachère, in the country of muriers and vineyards, from here it climbs steeply towards Planzolles, and then take the valley of the Drobie, a haven of peace. The clear river winds its way through the bottom of a narrow valley, the site of numerous springs in vaulted fountains. You will arrive at Joyeuse, named “métiers d’art”, then Largentière, sub-prefecture and its old silver mines. At the exit of the village, you can either go straight home or discover the defiles of Ruoms and climb the Sampzon rock with a breathtaking view over the Ardèche valley.

Our evaluation
Bois de Païolive. The Discovery Trail with Observation Tower This is a fully marked trail that allows you to evolve in a very characterized karst, whose path reveals a particular place, the Saint-Bernard chapel. During your walk, you will also see a dolmen, a capitelle, as well as the remains of an old agricultural site of which there remain only walls of limestone blocks and a pile of stones
MUSEUM OF LES VANS.
The museum is housed in the buildings of a former convent and a former silk mill. Through five exhibitions, the museum reveals the different facets of a very contrasted territory

The Wood of Païolive
One of the strangest curiosities of the Ardeche with this forest of petrified rocks with the animal aspect.
Formed about 150 million years ago during the Jurassic period, the Païolive limestone massif extends over 16 kilometers in the heart of the Cévennes ardéchoises. The erosion has thus formed grooves and crevices giving these reliefs and these strange mineral sculptures.
A real natural labyrinth overhanging the Chassezac, this mineral chaos invites you to explore.
